The Guardrails

The Keeper is an AI. That sentence is the foundation of everything on this page. There's a wave of "chat with Jesus" apps out there, and pastors are right to warn about them. We built the opposite — and we'd rather show you the rules than ask you to trust us. This page covers the Keeper, and it covers everything else too: your anonymity, your data, the rooms, and what happens in a crisis.

What the Keeper will do

• Talk with you like a brother, any hour — one-on-one chat is an Armory member benefit; crisis routing (988) is always free, for everyone, no account.
• Apply Scripture to your actual fight — with restraint. It's built to listen first; there's even a code-level guard: when its recent replies have leaned on Scripture, it's directed to answer the next one without quoting a verse at you.
• Name sin as the enemy — and never name you as the enemy.
• Point you, constantly, toward real people: a trusted brother, your church, the community rooms, your accountability partners.
• Tell you plainly that it's an AI, whenever it's relevant or you ask.
• Speak, if you want it to — voice mode uses your browser's built-in speech tools. We never receive or store audio; your browser turns your speech into text, and only the text reaches us.

What the Keeper will never do

• Speak as God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit — no role-play, no "words from the Lord," no pronouncing forgiveness. It points to Him. It is never Him. This rule is written into its instructions in the strongest terms: if it's ever asked to role-play God or Jesus, it's directed to decline and redirect. That's a written instruction to the model, not a hard-coded lock — so, like any AI guardrail, it isn't absolute. That's exactly why these rules are being put in front of an outside reviewer, not just asserted.
• Replace your pastor, church, doctor, or therapist — or claim to. It gives no medical, legal, or clinical advice, and neither does anything else on this site.
• Handle a crisis itself. When your words signal crisis, a hard-coded layer interrupts with an immediate, fixed response routing you to 988 and real humans — it runs before the AI model and before any membership check. The AI cannot override it or talk around it, and no paywall ever sits in front of it. But no filter catches every way pain gets worded — if that's you right now, don't wait for any interrupt: call or text 988.
• Encourage secrecy from a spouse, your church, or professionals — ever.
• Shame you. Grace first is a hard rule, not a tone preference.
• Pretend to be human.

In a crisis

Your anonymity

Every man here is a callsign — STEELHAMMER-10, not a real name. The server issues it, guarantees it's unique, and never derives it from your email. In every room, your identity is verified server-side: the display name on your messages comes from your account, not from anything a browser can type in, so nobody can impersonate you and you can't be made to post under a name that isn't yours. Your email exists for one purpose — verifying your account — and is never shown to other men.

Your data — what we keep, what we don't

• Keeper conversations: not stored on our servers. Your chat is processed in the moment on open-weight Llama models running on our own Cloudflare infrastructure — not a third-party chatbot service — and under Cloudflare's policy your chat inputs aren't used to train models. The conversation lives in your browser for the session, and we keep only anonymous counters (how many conversations happened, not what was said).
• The ACE questionnaire: never sent, never stored. Your answers are scored on your screen and vanish when you close the page. We built it that way on purpose.
• The War Closet: private by default. Your battle assessment, plan, and daily check-ins are stored in your account so your plan and weekly reviews can be built from them — and no other member can see any of it. Sharing is a per-check-in choice, and it goes only to accountability partners you personally approved.
• Community rooms: shared by design. They're open rooms — recent messages are kept so the rooms have memory. Say what you'd say in a room full of brothers.
• Partner messages: yours to destroy. Private lines open only by mutual consent (request → approve), and either man can wipe the whole conversation for both sides, at any time.
• No ads. No selling data. Ever. We use standard page analytics (Google Analytics) to see which pages get visited — not what you say in them.

The rooms police themselves

Every room message carries a ⚑ flag. If three different men flag the same message, it's automatically redacted and logged for review — no waiting on a moderator to wake up. Rooms also enforce a rate limit, a profanity filter, and a no-links rule in code. Fireteams — the closed pods, capped at eight men — are locked at the door: the server checks your seat in the database before the room will even open the connection.

The Watchman

The weekly "Where God Is Working" report that lands in your Messages is drawn from your own check-ins only, delivered privately to you. The same rule that governs the Keeper governs this report: it surfaces patterns in your own week and invites you to look for God's hand in them — it doesn't and can't declare what God is doing. It points; it never pronounces. Announcements from us arrive the same way, in the open. The Watchman never shares one man's private data with another — the only things your brothers ever see are the check-ins you chose to share, a heads-up to your partners if you go quiet, and the call for backup that goes to your fight room if you hit "I need help now." That's exactly what you asked them to watch for.

About the AI's words

Battle plans, weekly reviews, and the Keeper's replies are AI-generated encouragement — a brother's voice, not an oracle and not treatment. The guided missions are different: they're authored content, checked against Scripture before shipping, one real verse and one concrete task per day. The sobriety and anxiety missions say plainly, inside the missions themselves, that they walk alongside real help — meetings, counselors, doctors — never instead of it. Test everything against Scripture and the counsel of real people; that's not a disclaimer, it's an instruction we'd give you about any voice in your life.

What we believe

Historic, gospel-centered Christian faith: Scripture as the final authority, salvation through Jesus Christ, sin defeated at the cross — and the daily fight still real. Sin Is The Enemy is non-denominational. The Keeper is instructed to stay inside that lane and point you to your own church for anything deeper.

Review status — the honest part

Our own standard, written before launch, requires these guardrails to be reviewed by a pastoral/theological advisor and stress-tested by a safety reviewer before wide promotion. That review is being arranged now. We're telling you that rather than hiding it, because being the transparent one is the whole point. This page will name the reviewer when the review is done.

Who it's for

Men 18 and over. If you're younger, we mean this warmly: talk to a parent, a youth pastor, or another trusted adult in person — that's a better brother than any chat window. And if you're in a dark place right now, 988 answers for you too — call or text, any hour, free.
